Wildflower Practice Weekend details

Only 10 days away! Make your camping reservations now!

That's right! Next weekend, April 2nd/3rd/4th, the Bad Asses will be heading down to Lake San Antonio for some barbecuing, drinking, and maybe even a little training.

Laurence has reserved cabins for those who committed a few weeks ago. These cabins will be "Bad Ass HQ" for the weekend. If you're camping, you need to call now: (831) 385-8322 and reserve a spot in the Lynch campground. That's the campground down by the water, near the cabins.

As for food/drink/etc - we are not as organized as some clubs, and so we expect everyone to be fairly self sufficient. My suggestion is to find a buddy or two and coordinate food between a few people. I also recommend bringing cookies for me. See below for the barbecue details. If you're in cabins, coordinate with other folks in the cabins.

Directions to the lake are here.

Remember it takes a good 3+ hours to get there... the last 20 miles to the lake are on small roads, so please drive safely and watch out for fellow triathletes.

General information about the lake is here.

The general weekend schedule is as follows. All times indicate when to meet at the cabins.

Friday night

Arrival: Find some fellow bad asses and get in an early evening swim. Some folks may be arriving as early as 4pm...

Saturday

8:30am: Bike course overview. A few experienced folks like myself will be around to go over the courses and answer any questions.

9am: Ride the bike course. We will split into groups for Olympic and Long Course. Maps will be provided for both courses. Have your running shoes ready for when you return - it is HIGHLY recommended that you make this a brick workout with at least 15 minutes of running after the ride.

Afternoon: rest in the shade!

3pm: Afternoon swim. Meet at the docks and we will swim out to the buoys and try to get in at least 30 minutes of continuous swimming. Long course folks should probably try to swim for at least 45 minutes.

6pm: Barbecue at the cabins. Bring your own food, and maybe even some charcoal. There are standalone charcoal grills in front of each cabin. Assuming nice weather, we'll have at least a table to prepare your food.

Sunday

8:40am: Run course overview.
9am: Run the run course. Like Saturday, we'll meet at the cabins and split into two groups. When you return, jump in the lake. No this isn't a brick, but the cool water is awesome

around noon: Lunch in front of the cabins. I believe we have to check out of the cabins by noon, so get your stuff ready and enjoy your lunch with the team on the grass.
