More Weekend Details

Hey folks - so you've seen the itinerary (if not go visit Wildflower Practice Weekend Details and get the scoop)

There are a few more things to know...

  • The HQ cabins are cabins 11 and 12. Meet there before each workout, for updates, and to know where to start drinking and barbecuing
  • My cell phone number is 415-672-0717. However, I won't be leaving SF until at least 3pm.
  • You'll get a map of the whole place when they let you in at the entrance gate. Even if you plan on camping, ask them to explain how to get to cabins 11 and 12 and mark on your map.
  • The ride and run is more or less unsupported. Heather and I will try to leave 5-10 gallons of water at mile 20 on the long course, but that's about all you have.

Key things to bring down to the lake:

  • directions to the lake - don't get me started on how often I have forgotten these myself :)
  • lots of Gatorade or sports drink. It gets hot, count on 12-20oz per hour during your workouts.
  • lots of food. Count on 200-400 calories per hour during workouts - that usually means about a Powerbar an hour, or 2 gels per hour.
  • spare tubes/patch kits/etc - no support means no SAG vehicle. Be prepared and/or stick with people who are also prepared
  • Food for the weekend - there is a TINY store which is pretty expensive, and beyond that the nearest store is about an hour away, so plan on bringing enough food to last the entire weekend. Bring meat for the barbecue.
  • sunblock - it is very sunny down there, and you'll burn to a crisp without it. The weekend promises to be comfortably warm (in the low 80's)
  • clothes for nighttime - it can get chilly at night.. be ready

That about sums up the rest of what you need to know for the weekend. See you down there Friday night!
